Barnaby Barford Exhibit @ David Gill Gallery!!!!

I am a great admirer of Barnaby Barford's work (blog 3/4/10) and these new sculptural narratives, dealing with love & lust, and the problems and pleasures inherent in pornography, continue the thought provoking path he takes into his work. The whimsical nature of his porcelain figurines and their gift shop sensibility, are is direct opposition to what the artist is thinking and saying.  A series of pieces in the show replicate two-way mirrors, showing the double vision of possibility ....... dependent upon whether the light inside is turned on or off. What you see in reality, is often something very different than what you don't see. His work dealing with themes of jealousy, promiscuity,and romance both "provokes and appalls, at the same time as it is making us laugh."
