I've heard of Joseph's "Coat of Many Colors" .....
but never Southampton's "Fence of Many Colors" ....
yet, here it is at Gem Fence!!!

I never thought of using color this way ....
but, it would certainly add an
"accessorator twist"
to a plain grey shingled house!!!

Wonder what my neighbors would say if I put it up!!!

CHIMERE work in progress, 2012 Mario Bellini

I love the vibrancy & grace of blown glass
and was once again enchanted by
exhibition during Milan Design Week.
(see blog 4/21/11)

It was held at the divine Museo Bagatti Valsecchi,
a stunning "house museum" on Via Gesu,
in the middle of Milan's shopping mecca,
between Via Monte Napoleone & Via Spiga!!!

Titled "The White Collection,"
this extraordinary selection of "glass art" includes
renown international designers,
including Japanese architect Tadao Ando
Italian designer Alessandro Mendini,
and English designers Barber & Osgerby,
who most recently designed the 2012 Olympic Torch.

I was most captivated by the two collections,
created 10 years apart, by Italian designer & architect

All six pieces are sublime ....
the over-the-top whimsey & color in the earlier series
is a revered "accessoration supreme,"
while  the more minimal, sculptural shapes & colors of 2012
 have a more contemporary feeling.

I can't make a "must-have" decision ....
& would be equally thrilled
by anyone of these pieces
"accessorating" my living room!!!

from outside to in!!!

travel for one month every year,
to countries that have included Afghanistan,
Mexico, India, Vietnam, Peru, & Brazil,

Yesterday, I had a Tribeca jaunt with the ultimate
"seriously supreme accessorator"

Starting with lunch at the delicious new restaurant ....
"a modern Jewish America bistro,"
with the best matzoh ball soup & hot dogs in town,
from foodies Zach Kutsher, Alan Wilzig, Jeffrey Chodrow,
& Richard Kirshenbaum!!!!

Next was a visit to the stunning & stylish installation
at the historic New York Mercantile Exchange!!!!

This spectacular exhibition, a joint venture between
international galleries Marlborough & Steinitz,
was conceived & curated
by world renown architect, designer, & artist

"Le Cabinet de Curiosités" is presented in a series of
Second Empire rooms created by 18th century boiserie &
objects d'art shipped from Paris by Steinitz.

This unique installation of art, design, & antiquties
features sculptures & collages from
Spanish artist Manolo Valdés,
hyperrealist trompe l'oeil paintings by
Chilean painter Claudio Bravo,
and Despont's assemblage sculptures & paintings.

Reminiscent of Deyrolle's chic Paris taxidermy store &
Axel Vervoordt's Palazzo Fortuny exhibition
during the Venice Biennale .....
this installation is extraordinary & must not be missed!!!!
And it's been extended thru February!!!!

This divine bookcase,
from Hudson, NY antique dealer Mark McDonald,
was a "stand-out accessoration" at

According to Mark, the piece was made by
a unique design company that is ....
"blurring the boundaries between art, architecture,
entertainment & information"
by displacing, transforming & manipulating exiting objects!!!

I adored this piece ........
It qualifies for my "accessoration everything" list!!

#1 COLOR - It's Hermes orange, my very favorite color!!!
#2 ART & MOTION - It is a kinetic piece of sculpture!!!
#3 SCALE - It's over-the-top enormously huge!!!
#4 REPURPOSING - Each unit was originally a sink!!!

It's truly fabulous!!!!!

has been named "Designer of the Year" at the
2011 British Design Awards,
a competition organized by English Elle Decor,
and the London Telegraph!!!!

I was lucky enough to meet Lee and see his collection "Salon"
at the London Design Festival!!!
He was charming
and the collection was beyond chic!!!

Upholstered in wool or leather in neutral shades,
accentuated by metallic or pale powder-coated stud details,
the collection was inspired by 1930's elegance!!!

Harkening back to the glamorous days of decades past,
I knew the furniture would be "at home"
in a chic NYC penthouse or Hollywood Hills mansion!!

I imagine a cocktail party with "manhattans" as the drink of choice,
women in slinky satin dresses with long cigarette holders .....
and lots of smoke swirling!!!!

Sheer decadence!!!!

Who "accessorated" or "installed" it in this tree???
And who do you think lives here????

Its all part of my .......
"everwhere you look are great accessorations"
philosophy of design!!!

What have you seen lately????

A major highlight of the London Design Festival 2011,
this striking installation, "Timber Wave,"
created by AL_A Architects .......
in collaboration with structural engineers Arup,
is sited in front of the main entrance to London's V & A Museum!!!

The three-dimensional spiral, made from
oil-treated American red oak,
creates a stunning "doorway" into this extraordinary museum .....
which plays an integral part in the Festival.
