A cornucopia of divine artist's "domestic objects", 
made in Guadalajara, Mexico
by the Ceramica Suro, 
are available at unbelievably affordable prices!!!

Works include Matthew Higgs "records," 
Marcel Dzama's "chess set",
"popcorn" by Pae White, "keychains" by Liam Gillick, 
Jorge Pardo's "tomato lamps", 
Mario Garcia Torres's "double-string guitar,"
Liz Magic Laser's bronze "Chiquita hat,"

I am lucky enough to seen Axel Vervoordt's incredible exhibition 
"TRA, Edge of Becoming"
at the Palazzo Fortuny in Venice!!!!!

I was awed by the beauty of the objects, 
their installation & the setting, 
it was incredibly stunning!!!

I especially adored this silk sculpture 
 by Korean artist Kimsooja!!!

Vervoordt is undoubtably the world's 
ultimate design genius!!!
 
The design philosophy he infuses into his company company 
offers the best explanation of his vision ........

"With a taste that spans continents and centuries, 
it is the company's belief that all objects, 
regardless of their origin and value, 
are infused with a timelessness, 
universal beauty and intrinsic purity 
that preserves their contemporary relevance."

Bridgehampton's Comerford Collection,  
is shopping mecca for
modern furniture & accessories!!!

Owner Karen Comerford has curated an exciting collection of contemporary furniture and accessories for her eponymous store.  She has accented the store's primarily neutral and black palette with a selection of bright colorful prints and solid colored accent pieces that are in sync today's design trends. In addition, there is an interesting collection of lighting and table accessories that are contemporary, but not cold. A wonderful collection of books for both reading & and "accessoration" complete the mood of the store!!! I was especially inspired by her her stunning selection of innovative & interesting outdoor pieces in updated textures, weaves, patterns, and shapes.

I adore the faux straw black/grey/natural stripe 
outdoor chair & ottoman ....
it would be a spectacular addition to my patio!!!

My other "must-have" is the sculptural metal basket ......
divine for magazines!!!

Mark Grotjahn Paintings @ Anton Kern Gallery, NYC!!!

California artist Mark Grotjahn's monumental exhibition Faces is a continuation of his exploration of the "simple geometric structure of eyes, nose, and mouth." These tactile paintings, a series of layers of built-up ropy lines of polychromatic color, reflect his return to color after his 2007 series of monochromatic Butterfly paintings. According to the press release .... "These new paintings demonstrate that the spirit of the face-wild, untamed, animalistic, free and limitless- motivates the artist's entire oeuvre."

Undoubtably, these nine extraordinarily beautiful paintings 
reinforce Grotjahn's position as a major force 
in the contemporary art world ......
They are fabulous!!!!

Whimsical, Wacky, & WOW describes the divine Peoria Emporium!

This NYC store, an eclectic & eccentric art installation, is the brainchild of Elena Agostinis & Patricia Stevens, two charming ladies with extravagant vision!!!! I was drawn into the store by it's brightly colored store-front and the papier maché cactus standing guard outside!!! As soon as I stepped in the front door, my eyes were astounded by this visual feast of "accessorations" galore!!! 

Dressing rooms made from t-shirts, walls of plastic grass ...... 
a brilliantly colored wonderland of paint, papier maché, 
paper plates, paint rollers, plastic gloves, tissue paper, 
coffee cup holders, caution tape,
& anything else that can be salvaged ........ 
The Peoria Emporium screams LOOK AT ME!!!!
And I did ..... and so should you!!!

I love a good Sunbrella stripe "accessoration"!!!!

This "multi-stripe" at Andrea Balazs' South Beach,
 Standard Hotel is divine!!!
I wonder if he'll use it on Shelter Island, 
at the Sunset Beach Hotel?????

If not, I'm thinking about using it at my house ....
What do you think????

Renowned Italian glassmaker Venini 
celebrated "ninety years of passion for glass" 
with an exhibition at Milan's Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi.

This brilliant collection of glass objects & lighting,
began with Fulvio Bianconi's 1940's design "Fazzoletto" .....
and included the most recent, unique sculpture
of broken & reassembled glass  "Fragments" 
created by the Campana brothers.

Installing this extraordinary selection
of iconic & new works
amongst the museum's Renaissance collection of
paintings, sculpture, armour, 
furniture, & accessories ....
was ingenious!!!!

Patricia Urquiola's first glass installation, in the Ventura Lambrate design area of Milan, is  part of the Glasstress 2011 exhibition a collateral event to the Venice Biennale. The exhibition features glass installations and sculpture from more than 20 world renowned designers and artists ...... including Jaime Hayon, Vik Muniz, Jaume Plensa, Monica Bonvicini, Ted Noten, Tony Oursler, and Joep Van Lieshout.

These whimsical pieces from Urquiola are a total delight!!!!
They are playful and charming .........
reflecting the designer's personality, 
much like the rest of her work!!!!
