New Zealand-based, English artist/designer
created these beautiful, sculptural, energy efficient,
sustainable light fixtures with an environmental conscience ....
featured at
during ICFF.

The shapes are influenced by nature ...
the flora, fauna, and sea life of Australia & New Zealand.

Using CFL & LED light sources,
the laser cut lights are flexible bamboo plywood pieces,
that are attached with metal clips.

To reduce the "environmental footprint" of the lights ...
they are flat-packed in pieces,
that are easily assembled by the owner!!!

The fixtures are available in the USA from Texas-based

"I work within the limits of what I have & know,
simplicity & low impact,
natural materials & process,
leaving a delicate footprint."

Renown English designer
first Milan installation
included this sparkling, ecclectic collection of
"decanterlights" & "crystal bulbs"!!!

The "decanterlights" are an open edition of recycled vintage
crystal decanters that Broom has collected,
that can be hung solo or
in a cluster ......
creating a spectacular chandelier!!!

The "crystal bulbs" are individually hand blown bulbs,
that are cut into a classic crystal pattern
& etched with the Lee Broom logo.
They too can also be hung alone or in clusters ....
either way, they are stunning!!!

I love Lee's furniture & these "lights" are definitely
a great addition to my
"must-have" accessoration list!!!

Gelitin, plasticine paintings (framed with furniture parts)

The scope of my world as a "collector/accessorator"
is rapidly expanding ....
interior, furniture, art, & design are becoming one!!!

It became especially apparent last week ....
when I wandered around NYC's first Frieze Art Fair!!!
And here's why ......

Artist Mickalene Thomas is working on a series of paintings
that all references "interiors".

Furniture/sculpture from Max Lamb, Franz West,
Richard Artschwager, Allison Katz
is both for sale by dealers & is being "used" in the booths.

Artists Gelitin, Matt Golden, & Olga Koumoundouros
have incorporated "furniture" into their work.

Martino Gamper's & Hun-Chung Lee's "art" is furniture!!!

And finally ....,,
English gallerist Stephen Friedman's booth
is "furnished" & everything is for sale!!!

This confirms my newest theory .....
there is a single "dialogue" incorporating the worlds of
art, interior, furniture, & design ......
making everything an "accessoration"!!!

photo-4.jpg
My friend WR, the media guru from Doha,
sent me this image yesterday ....
he was walking down Fifth Avenue ......
& this is what he saw!!!

Everything I love ...... color, pattern & it moves!!!

"Super Duper Divine Accessoration" .....
really wish I had seen it!!!

But, I did see these 2 "auto accessorations" in Milan!!!

Antique lockers that have been in the garden forever!!!

Rossana Orlandi is the "High Priestess" of Design!!!!

Her eponymous store is where it all begins to percolate in Milan  ....
A first stop during Milan's Salone del Mobile,
whether old stand-bys or fresh talent ....
the international design community pays strict attention
to whatever & whoever she exhibits!!!

And it all starts when you walk into "the garden" ....
the heart of the exhibition!!!

Renown Dutch "createur supreme"
designed the
Polder Sofa for Vitra in 2005 ....
& has created this divine version of the
Polder for Milan's

Currently on exhibition at the Jil Sander store in Milan,
the Maharam Polder by Vitra by Jongerius
is an abstract composition of colors, patterns, & textures
created by combining six Maharam textiles ......
Borders and Layers, a Jongerius design
 made in collaboration with Maharam,
Exaggerated Plaid designed by Paul Smith
and Kvadrat's iconic Hallingdal #65.

The sofa is a limited edition of 100 pieces ......
And I hope that one of these spectacular "accessorations"
is already on is way to me in NYC!!!!

Italian furniture company
presented German artist & designer
newest woolen carpet collection for

The carpets are inspired by the four different personas of
Portugese poet Fernando Pessoa ....
Ålvaro de Campos, Alberto Caeiro, Ricard Reis, & Pessoa.

According to Draide the carpets echo four stories.....
"Fernando, Ålvaro, Alberto, & Ricardo, as eveybody knows,
though still hard to believe are a single person:
four different styles of writing for four different heteronyms
of Pessoa."

"Fascinated by this story, among the most amazing
in contemporary literature,
Linde Burkhardt decides to "paint" on four carpets,
portraits of the "four" writers."

"She joins them uniting a palette of warm colors,
which blend with the differences and
 accentuates their identities."

These rugs are stunning ....
and the "back-story" makes them unique & eccentric ....
resulting in a "supremely divine accessoration"
and "must-have"!!!

Sapore del Mobili (furniture tasting)
is the result of a chance meeting in Milan of two young designers,
Ryosuke Fukusada (Japan) & Rui Pereira (Portugal).

The project is a statement about the size of the contemporary
furniture industry & the "consumer's inability to digest"
the amount of product that is launched every year
at Milan's Salone del Mobile.

The designers created these "furniture pans" to bake
small Japanese cakes "baby castella" with
Portugese egg based pastry "ovos moles."

Creating your own "edible furniture" ...
chairs, tables, lamps, cabinets, vases, etc ...
& decorating the pieces with a choice of toppings ...
makes "digestion" of new furniture easier!!!

And when you get tired of these pieces ...
you can "eat'em up" and start again!!!

This blend of my two favorite "accessorations" is sublime ...
& a very, very thought provoking idea!!!

Yummie too!!!
