exhibited
a collection of the work of furniture dealer/artist
at Design/Miami 2012.

The installation created by gallery owner
a great friend & collector of Loughlin's work,
celebrated the legendary artist.

A dealer since the 60's, Loughlin began painting
his signature motifs on
"found" recycled furniture" .....
picked-up at flea markets & thrift stores
in the 80's.

His quirky signature motifs included ...
a man with a cigarette,
Zippo lighters & other thematic emblems
of the times.

Johnson has also published a book titled
featuring his collection of furniture
with Loughlin's iconic imagery.

I adored the pieces but,
had a special response to the mirror,
which has a logo sticker with the Greek letters
of my college sorority ...
Sigma Delta Tau!!!

Very 1960's ....
now considered very vintage!!!

Is it a fabulous "found object" sculpture
with "color accents"???

Nope, it's a stack of ordinary plastic tubs used
to hold merchandise to stock
the new CVS store on 10th Avenue
in Chelsea!!!

Amazing how innovative & eccentric they it looks
in NYC's "art 'hood"!!!

Yep, I see art everywhere!!!

The quirky Spanish shoe company
has a worldwide collection of retail stores,
each unique, they are designed by renown
international
contemporary designers
& they are springing-up everywhere!!!!

I have seen incredible stores designed by
& the Bouroullec Brothers ....
but, right now I am totally enthralled by this
divine store in NYC!!!

Located on Madison Avenue, across from Barneys,
this spectacular NYC store is the creation of
the brilliant Brazilian design duo the

Handcrafted in Brazil the walls, window display,
seating, & lighting is crafted of
woven natural fibers ....
evoking a strong sense of the rainforest.

The "transplastic" seating, considered a metaphor for
the world of natural vs. synthetic,
is a recycled collection of
plastic chairs & tables that appear to be
"growing" through the wicker.

This store is a Madison Avenue "must-see"!!!

Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about the shoes ....
I was held captive by the environment!!!!

A little something to keep you warm!!!!

Think a weekend in Miami ....
and a fantastic shopping spree at
on "hip & happening"
Lincoln Road in South Beach!!!

And remember this sublimely curated collection
of designer apparel & accessories
is set in a glass & mirror 1800-square-foot
transparent box
on the fifth floor of a parking garage!!!

Not just any car park ....
but an amazing concrete "sculpture"
design by the dynamic Swiss architectural duo

Of course, my quirky eye was over-obsessed by the
"outdoor furniture" around the store!!!

I was told the pieces were made from
"left-over wood from the construction of the building,"
& they were designed by
Herzog & de Meuron's design team!!!

"Accessoration's sublime" ......
Wouldn't you love them on your NYC terrace!!!!

Everyone knows I love color .....
but did you know my favorite "pattern accessoration"
is stripes!!!

Renown French conceptualist artist
is the "master" of stripes ....
& two NYC galleries currently have exhibitions
of his work!!!

Petzel Gallery presents versions of site specific
works from the 70's & 80's ......
& the work at Bortolami Gallery features
plexiglass & fabric works,
as well as a gallery of new fiber optic works.

These two exhibitions are
a stunning mix of pattern & color ....
an "accessorator must-see"!!!

AND ......

As a huge fan of Buren's work,
I rarely miss an opportunity in Paris to visit
the courtyard of the Palais Royal !!!

This 1986 black & white site specific installation,
"Les Deux Plateaus" is fabulous ....
an international
"accessorator must-see"!!!

The "marriage" of furniture & art at international art fairs
always fascinates me ...
especially last month at Miami's zillion fairs!!!

Featured at  Berlin's Neugerriemschneider Gallery
were LA based sculptor Jorge Pardo's
brightly colored plastic wrapped
table & chairs chairs,
as well as his divine light fixtures!!!

Artist Julian Hoeber's Shaker inspired
grey cotton web & wood pieces
were at NYC's Harris Lieberman Gallery.
The four seating pieces fit under the glass table,
creating a sculptural square!!!

which usually has great furniture in their booth,
had a divine "photo print" table
by collaborative artists

Vintage Brazilian 50's furniture included
Zanini ameba-shaped wooden table that was
paired with vintage Eames chairs
at NYC's CRG Gallery,
& a divine sculptural large wooden octagon table
& leather chairs
at NYC's Sean Kelly Gallery!!!

I saw so much great design,
paired with
soooo much great art  .....
it was heard to know what to look at first!!!

I always love great food ...
& when it comes with great design,
that's a plus!!!!

I had a delicious brunch in my 'hood yesterday at
& I found this fabulous room divider .....
separating the front of house & the dinning room!!
It is stunning!!!

Soooo clever .....
a great graphic element
& a perfect place to stack wood,
for the enormous wood burning oven,
a focal point in the restaurant!!!

Great idea for the new "great room" at my house!!!

LA based artist Andrea Bowers'
"Tree Sitting Platforms" combined art, design,
& social consciousness
at NYC's Andrew Kreps Gallery at

A focal point at the fair,
these "perfect perches" of recycled materials
are a sublime reminder
of our responsibility to the environment.

This visually stimulating combination
of "art & message"
fits my aesthetic to a tee ......
& I would love having a "platform" hang
in my garden!!!

In addition to "art" at Miami's
the floor of the booth of NYC's Canada Gallery
was over-laid with a fantastic selection
of handmade Berber rugs ...
sold by Youssef Idia,
Moroccan-born husband
of one of the galley's artists!!!

According to gallery owner Phil Grauer,
"the structure of the rugs match the structure
of many of the paintings I'm interested in."

Art collectors loved the booth
& snapped up the fabulous rugs!!!

Again, proving my point that
art & design are becoming one!!!

I was walking around Mar Mikhael .....
the "new" West Village neighborhood in Beirut,
& I found these fabulous staircases!!!

I think they look fantastic ....
& have been thinking about painting the staircase

What do you think???

is an over-the-top "retail accessorator supreme,"
& I never miss an opportunity to visit
her spectacular Miami shopping mecca ......

Last week I flipped over these chic, chic, chic
Fornasetti candles ...
& I must admit I bought them all!!!

And, they are on their way to Beirut with me .....
right now!!!

I think they will be tasty hostess gifts
for the divine & delightful,
who have invited us to fancy, fabulous, & fun
holiday lunches & dinners!!!

I have always adored the brilliant collaboration
between these two Englishmen .....
& designer Sebastian Wrong
for London's Established & Sons!!!

The WrongWoods furniture collection
has always been an "accessorator favorite"!!!

But these four WrongWoods "Bent Wood Tables"
presented last week by Galerie VIVID
at Design Miami are an
"over-the-top sublime accessorations supreme" ......
crossing the boundary between art & design!!!

I cannot possibly decide
which color combination I "must have" .....
& there definitely isn't space in my house for all four!!!
HELP!!!

I am enthralled with the mission of
providing international artists & designers
"with the opportunity to express
their creativity in the glass."

Last week at Design Miami
they presented a spectacular installation
by Dutch designer Pieke Bergman.

METAMORPHIS is "an evocative collection
of Venetian street lights ...
that come to life through Bergman's fantasy,
stretching out their iron bodies
& their glass bulbs like living beings,
when Venice  is asleep."

I have adored Pieke's work since seeing her
LIGHT BULB series in 2009,
at both Dilmos Gallery, Milan
Gallery Fumi, London!!!

And I am hopeful that one of her "BULBS"
will soon "light up my life"!!!

Since my trip to Brazil last fall,
I am in love with all things Brazilian!!!

Especially furniture .....
& especially the work of designer

Tenreiro, a major force in modernist Brazilian furniture,
was born in Portugal & moved to Rio de Janeiro
in his 20's.

Influenced by the warm weather of Brazil,
his pieces were light .....
often combining wicker or cane with
indigenous Brazilian hardwoods.

I was delighted to see this DIVINE dinning set at
& am wondering if it will fit in my dinning room!!!

              A major theme at Design/Miami 2012 is nature ....
& the work of these designers
are significant examples of this design trend!!!

Aren't these pieces fantastic ....
Guess which piece I'm hoping will surprise me
& be under my Christmas tree!!!
