Italian carpet company
has collaborated with
to create
a divine collection of furniture
upholstered in vintage, over-dyed carpets!!!

presented at ICFF this past week,
is a contemporary way to blend of old & new!!!

I love over-dyed antique carpets
& this furniture looks new & fresh ......
great shapes, great colors, & great patterns!!!

Renown English designer
first Milan installation
included this sparkling, ecclectic collection of
"decanterlights" & "crystal bulbs"!!!

The "decanterlights" are an open edition of recycled vintage
crystal decanters that Broom has collected,
that can be hung solo or
in a cluster ......
creating a spectacular chandelier!!!

The "crystal bulbs" are individually hand blown bulbs,
that are cut into a classic crystal pattern
& etched with the Lee Broom logo.
They too can also be hung alone or in clusters ....
either way, they are stunning!!!

I love Lee's furniture & these "lights" are definitely
a great addition to my
"must-have" accessoration list!!!

The scope of my world as a "collector/accessorator"
is rapidly expanding ....
interior, furniture, art, & design are becoming one!!!

It became especially apparent last week ....
when I wandered around NYC's first Frieze Art Fair!!!
And here's why ......

Artist Mickalene Thomas is working on a series of paintings
that all references "interiors".

Furniture/sculpture from Max Lamb, Franz West,
Richard Artschwager, Allison Katz
is both for sale by dealers & is being "used" in the booths.

Artists Gelitin, Matt Golden, & Olga Koumoundouros
have incorporated "furniture" into their work.

Martino Gamper's & Hun-Chung Lee's "art" is furniture!!!

And finally ....,,
English gallerist Stephen Friedman's booth
is "furnished" & everything is for sale!!!

This confirms my newest theory .....
there is a single "dialogue" incorporating the worlds of
art, interior, furniture, & design ......
making everything an "accessoration"!!!

Rossana Orlandi is the "High Priestess" of Design!!!!

Her eponymous store is where it all begins to percolate in Milan  ....
A first stop during Milan's Salone del Mobile,
whether old stand-bys or fresh talent ....
the international design community pays strict attention
to whatever & whoever she exhibits!!!

And it all starts when you walk into "the garden" ....
the heart of the exhibition!!!

The accessorator's pick for "trend du jour" at
Milan's Salone Del Mobile were .....

Perching, Sitting, Stacking, or Setting!!!

These "accessorations" were everywhere,
some were serious, some whimsical, some recycled,
some shiny & new ......
but always accessible & flexible!!!

There were sooooo many divine choices that
I think maybe I ordered them "all" ....
for my house in the country!!!

Milan's "retail accessorator supreme"
presented a divine collection of
100 chairs!!!!

Made by ex-prisioners in Columbia,
the projects goal is to
"reinforce the prisoners resettlement
into social & working life."

These brightly colored traditional Columbian chairs
have been updated in "fashion" patterns
& color combinations created by
Marni owner & designer

They are super-stunning ....
& would look especially divine in my garden!!!

And guess what ......
 this morning,
my favorite Marni saleslady
checked the cost of shipping six to NYC ....
& they're on their way!!!!

is an "accessorator's" dream come true .....
from outside to in!!!

travel for one month every year,
to countries that have included Afghanistan,
Mexico, India, Vietnam, Peru, & Brazil,
filling their store with an international blend of
eclectic & inviting "goodies."

The collection includes an extraordinary assortment of
textiles & tapestries, decorative pillows, ceramics,
glassware, jewelry, soaps, toys,
and divine "potions, lotions, & oils,"
that soothe both body & soul!!!

The mix of products celebrate handcrafted items
from artisan & artists worldwide,
often focusing on
"equitable & sustainable environments."

is definitely a fantastic addition to
the accessorator's "must-see" shopping guide!!!!

ARAB FALL TAPESTRY

"Bokja's map of the "Arab Fall" interweaves imported jeans
as a background for the sad reality of an Arab world,
where imported fads & fast foods have replaced
timeless traditions & native delicacies.

The flying elephant serves as a reminder
of all the inane slogans
that have been forced upon generations
of an incredulous citizenry across the region."

ARAB SPRING TAPESTRY

"It is the awakening that delineates the Arab Spring map.
The background is an old valuable carpet,
representing our core values,
that should be the basis of any new start.

The carpet is in a dilapidated state,
like many of our discarded ideals,
& is in need of resurrection.

The mood is that of optimism & rejuvenation.
The symbols are many,
among them a woman riding a horse
on the rod to a new and unknown world."

use their common love of antiques & vintage textiles
to create the amazing furniture & accessories
that are part of the Bokja collection.

They also express their ideas about the world
in the same creative manner.

I adored their stunning tapestries,
they visually reflect the designer's views
of the changing Arab world,
& they have included thought provoking text
in their own words.

English designer
created "Meltdown,"
a series of chairs in a variety of
"non-traditional" furniture materials including .....
plumbing tubes, polypropylene rope, nylon cable ties,
crumpled polypropylene sheets, plastic rugs,
& polyethylene sheets.

He presses a heated metal chair-shaped former
into a stack of any of these materials .....
the materials melt as they come into contact with
the heated former ......
leaving the irregular seat shapes.

In the case of the bronze chair,
he uses a "lost-plastic" casting technique ...
a combination of the melting materials & a mold technique.

I adored "meltdown" collection when I saw it at
exhibited by Industry Gallery ......
& I loved it last week at Design Days Dubai,
where it was exhibited by Brussels Designart Dealer

The chairs are an editions of 8 ...
except my favorite the multi color "rug chair,"
which is unique!!!

English designer Paul Smith has a collection of the
most fabulously "accessorated" stores
through-out the world!!!

Last year I stumbled upon my current favorite,
possibly the smallest & most unusual,
Tourrette, located at 70 Rue de Grenelle, Paris!!!

According to Smith, "The store dates back to the Thirties
when La Tourrette was opened by Monsieur Tourrette
as a "Bougnat";
the left side of the shop selling coal,
the right side selling wine,
supplies considered to be the staples of a Parisian winter."

Applying a universal design philosophy to all of his shops,
his design team has re-invented the space,
while still being "sympathetic
to it's history & retaining its identity."

The store has not changed either inside or out ...
the floors, the walls, the details,
& the original signage remain in place,
with the addition of "vintage inspired" fixtures.

Smith's stores are all "accessoration's supreme"!!!

Currently this is my favorite ......
but who know's what's next in the world of

KENTUCKY PIED DE POULE II (2012)

Brazilian born, London based artist
first show in NYC,
KENTUCKY PIED DE POULE,
is at CRG Gallery.

"Da Cunha takes everyday objects-
beach towels, curtain railings, mop heads-
and turns them into sculpture that, at a cursory glance,
ask to be considered formally,
with Modernist and Minimalist language."

The KENTUCKY PIED DE POULE series refers to
the elegantly woven tapestries
that are made from dyed mop heads!!!

"Kentucky" is the brand of the mop,
while "pied de poule" is French
for the houndstooth pattern,
created by the woven mops!!!

Da Cunha's improvisational & interesting use of
traditional commercial objects
that are transformed into daring "works of art,"
makes this extraordinary exhibition
an accessorator's "must-see"!!!

Design/merchandising guru Bruce Tilley
has recently opened
an "accessorator's paradise"!!!

This "updated" luxury consignment shop features
furniture, antiques, accessories, & art ....
from decorators & their clients,
wholesalers, manufacturers, & individuals.

The store's concept is to feature an extensive,
ever-changing inventory
of well displayed unique, stylish, chic
& tasteful designer merchandise
at "moderate prices."

According to Tilley, he has created
"a consignment gallery
with an elevated design aesthetic."

Décor NYC is an "accessorator's dream,"
a well curated store .....
where we can buy "great new stuff,"
& sell the "great old stuff"
we already have!!!

I adore the work of English designer
& have been a major "groupie" for several years.

Her recent nomination, in two categories,
for Designer of the Year
by London's Design Museum is well deserved!!!

Bethan is nominated in the furniture category for her
laminated marquetry furniture collection
"MOON ROCK, created exclusively for Milan's
This series is inspired by "craters of the moon
& the composition of the solar system."

In addition, these spectacular patterns
inspired the stunning textiles
that made Bethan a beguiling, walking "lunar landscape"
during the  Milan Furniture Fair!!!

Bethan's jewelry collection "PARTICLE" ......
which I was lucky enough to see at the "Composite" show
during London Design Week .......
began as a way to salvage the "leftover bits"
from her "PARTICLE" furniture series.
It has expanded to an extensive
collection of stunning bracelets & necklaces!!!

Bethan's work is included in the
"Designers of the Year 2012" exhibition, opening
tomorrow at London's Design Museum!!!!

This is a "must see" exhibition for all
dedicated "accessorators"!!!

What is a MHOY?????

It's a "protest pet" designed by  artist
Beginning as sticker art in Paris, it has evolved
into this three dimensional, recycled,
poly resin sculpture!!!

Evoking the struggle for animal rights,
a MHOY may look like a loudspeaker but,
it is really a heart touching creature ....
who "protests in silence"!!!!

By adopting a MHOY, we recognize this struggle ......
5% of all sales go directly to PETA .......
a charity that fights for the dignity of all animals!!!

I bought a dozen to give to all my favorite
"animal loving accessorator's"!!!
