One of my favorite installations
at the Brooklyn Museum is
Mounir Fatmi's "Maximum Senstation,"
a work composed of 50 skateboards,
each covered with a patchwork
of Islamic prayer rugs!!!
Referencing the artist's own experience
of being raised in a Moroccan Muslim family
living in contemporary France,
is a vivid example of
"cultural of globalization"!!!
The metaphor of the Muslim culture of prayer,
meeting the hip-hop skate board culture
is very appealing to me....
or is it the rugs ....
they really are "divine accessorations"!!!
